News: Bio-metric Data Capture For Customers To Commence In Bank

Nigerian banks under the auspices of the bankers committee will soon commence a bio-metric data capture for all customers in the banking sector.
Managing Director of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, Mr. Umaru Ibrahim, disclosed this yesterday at the ongoing seminar for finance journalists in Dutse, Jigawa state capital.

News: Water Resources Director Killed By Gunmen In Borno

Gunmen, yesterday, killed the Director of Design and Construction in the Borno State Ministry of Water Resources, Mallam Ali Mohammed Sheriff in Maiduguri, the state capital.
Sheriff’s death is coming barely 24 hours after a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Land and Survey, Mallam Yerima and another lecturer with the Department of Geography, University of Maiduguri, Mr. Babagana Kolo were trailed to their houses and shot dead in Maiduguri metropolis.

News: 20 miscreants arraigns by Airport Police Command.

The  Commissioner of Police, Airport Command,  Mr.  James Olatunji Caulcrick yesterday said that the Command has arrested and prosecuted about 20 suspects in the last three months for various offences.
Speaking with reporters in his office, Commissioner Caulcrick explained that the Command was taking the issue of miscreants very seriously to ensure that the airport was free of them to ensure safety of passengers at the airport.

News: Kwara Adeclares 3-day Mourning For Saraki.

The Kwara Government on Wednesday announced the death of  Second Republic Senate Leader, Dr Olusola  Saraki.
The elder statesman died  at the age of  79 years.
Gov.  Abdulfattah Ahmed of Kwara,  who  announced the death of the politician at the Government House in Ilorin,  said Saraki  passed on in the early hours of Wednesday.
The governor   declared Wednesday  a work-free day to allow residents  of the state to receive the body of the late politician who died in Lagos.
Ahmed also declared a three-day mourning period across the state.
The body of the late politician was expected in Ilorin  at  2:00 p.m while the burial was expected to  take place at  4: 00 p.m.

News: Inter-Tribal Marriages Among Nysc Members Says Fulani Leader

The Ardo Fulani of Suleja, Alhaji Gidado Ibrahim, on Wednesday called for inter-tribal marriages among youth corps members to foster unity among Nigerians. Ibrahim made the call in an interview when he visited the NYSC 2012 batch C corps members posted to Abuja at the FCT Orientation Camp, Kubwa.
He said inter-tribal marriages among corps members’ would bridged barriers that existed between the various Nigerian societies.
