The Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Hope
Eghagha has been released by his abductors after over two weeks in captivity.
The former lecturer at the University of Lagos was kidnapped on Sunday,
September 30, 2012, along the Agbor/Abraka Road, between Agbor and Abavo by
unknown gunmen.
His police orderly was killed while his driver was severely wounded during his
abduction by the gunmen.
Kidnapping for ransom has over the months posed a great challenge to government and security services in the South states of Nigeria.
Family sources in Asaba, the Delta State capital told Eghagha was freed late Monday night. The source who craved anonymity added that the commissioner is presently with his family in his Asaba official residence.
