Tonto Dike and Terry G duet on upcoming single: Get ready for madness.

It’s no joke – the Poko queen and Akpako master have finally hooked up, be ready for the madness…
The two controversial entertainers – actress Tonto Dike and pop singer-producer Terry G on November 29, 2012 confirmed on social networking site Twitter that they have recorded a collabo.
Ms Dike had hinted at the collabo a few weeks back while on air, in interview with Cool FM’s Freeze and Kaylah. Her dreams have finally come to reality.
We are told the song which still remains untitled for now was recorded at Terry G’s TPG Studios in Iju, Lagos.
Tonto Dike received wide criticism when she released her first two singles ‘Get Hi’ and ‘Itz over’ in October with veteran movie producer Charles Novia dedicating his time to pen a 400 word article just to show his displeasure. Parody videos and pictures were created just to mock her singing and style of music
Tonto however seems to be unfazed with the bashing and is even more determined to make a strong statement with her music.

Entertainment: My First Marriage Crashed By My Mother-In-Law Says Mercy Aigbe

Mercy Aigbe needs no formal introduction as one of the most-sought- after actresses in Nollywood. She’s one of the top rated actresses who has paid her dues in the industry. In this interview with Showtime Celebrity,  Mercy opens up on many issues, including her marriage to her ex-husband, her recent marriage, career, challenges and others. Excerpt: What’s been happening?
I have been busy working and some of my movies have been released in the market.  I just completed my most recent movie titled, Suru Lere(Patience Has Gain). I  also traveled to shoot the concluding part of my movie, Osas, and by December, we’re going to round everything up.
You started as an actress and now, you’re a producer, how has it been?
It hasn’t been easy because it involves more responsibilities.  As an established actress and now a producer, you want to give what people will see and respect. Producing movies that are not up to standard will affect the way people look at me. So, it’s double work because I also play lead roles in my movies.
How  much do you spend producing a movie?
Like I said, as a producer, I love to give out my best on a project. But with the kind of environment  we have here, one of my challenges is piracy. Sometimes, when you have a project and you’re to spend like N10m, you’ll always want to cut cost because you’re not sure pirates will allow you recoup your money. But at the same time, because of my status and the kind of person I am, I always want to do what I want to do.
You being a Benin woman, why did you choose to act in Yoruba movies?
I’ll say it’s providence because it’s not by choice. I didn’t know I would be more prominent in the Yoruba movie genre. But  I’m a professional- I studied Theater Arts at the University of Lagos. So maybe this is where God wants me to be for now.
Actually, I started off acting in soaps. I did a couple of soaps before going into Yoruba movies. And it was after I featured in few Yoruba movies that I started getting more scripts from Yoruba movie producers. It’s not as if I don’t get called up by non-Yoruba movie producers and it’s not as if I don’t want to diversify to feature in English movies or even produce mine, but for now, I’m okay with where I am .

But emotionally, he is swayed by age old superstition and the traditions of his people.
When the time comes for him to get married, James bowed to family pressures, and chooses a girl from among his own Ibos, leaving his mistress of many years behind in Lagos. But the lucky bride, Obiagali, whom he finally chooses, is tied to the apron string of the primitive curse of the village gods. Undeterred by this chilling discovery, James, together with his wife to be, agreed to go through a curious and sinister ritual to secure her release so that they can marry. Ironically, at the climax of the purification exercise to extricate Obiagali from the grip of the village gods, she died in a mysterious circumstance.

News: No Suspected Terrorist Escaped In SARS Attack Says Police

Boko Haram member sends letter offering dialogue
By Kingsley Omonobi
ABUJA— Gunmen, yesterday, launched an attack on the headquarters of the  Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Abuja believed to be holding suspected Islamist extremists, killing two officers and leading to the escape of 30 detainees.
Police authorities, however, claimed to have re-arrested 25 of the 30 escapees and said no one being held on “terror-related charges” was freed.
The attack on the Special Anti-Robbery Squad compound in the pre-dawn hours resulted in a gun battle, with police claiming to have repelled the assailants and arrested two of them.
SARS GATE—Gate of the Headquarters of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) which was attacked by gunmen in Abuja, yesterday.
It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack. The raid was similar to others carried out by Islamist extremist group, Boko Haram.
However, a statement signed by Force Spokesman, CSP Frank Mba reads: “In the early hours of today, November 26, 2012, at about 2am, unknown gunmen in large numbers attacked the premises of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Federal Territory Police Command.
Policemen on duty responded swiftly and engaged the gunmen in a gun battle that lasted for some minutes, at the end of which the gunmen were successfully repelled.
“However, in the confusion that ensued, about 30 suspects in the detention facilities of SARS broke out of the cells and attempted to escape.  Tactical and coordinated efforts to re-arrest the fleeing suspects yielded instant result.
So far, 25 of the suspects have been re-arrested, while five suspects originally being held in relation to robbery related offences are currently at large.  Two Policemen died during the operation while two of the attackers have been arrested.
“It needs to be emphasized here that no suspect held for terror related charges, escaped from SARS detention facilities.  No explosive or IED-related materials were used in the botched attack”.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has personally visited the scene of the incident to assess the situation. He has equally ordered a high-powered investigative panel headed by a Senior Police Officer to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Members of Boko Haram have carried out scores of attacks in northern and centralNigeria, including police stations and sometimes with the intent of freeing jailed members.
A visit to the scene, revealed that the main gate outside the police unit was heavily guarded. There were two armoured vehicles, six police trucks and more than a dozen armed policemen.
It was not immediately possible to determine whether the complex had suffered damage.
On Friday, the military offered hundreds of thousands of dollars in reward for information leading to the capture of leaders of Boko Haram in a statement that listed 19 alleged senior members of the group.
The rewards ranged from N50 million ($317,000, 245,000 euros) for the suspected leader, Abubakar Shekau, to N10 million for various Boko Haram “commanders”.
Jaji Bombings: Army Chief orders board of inquiry
Meanwhile, 24 hours after terrorists struck at theMilitaryProtestantChurchof the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirika has ordered a board of inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the bombing even as he noted that the bomb attack should have been avoided.
Said General Ihejirika: “The bombing attack of yesterday (Sunday) was a very sad event. A board of inquiry has already been instituted to unravel what happened which we believe could have been avoided”.
The Army Chief who was speaking in Asaba at the opening of the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference, vowed that despite incessant attacks on the Army, no amount of distraction will deter the Nigerian Army from achieving its objectives as assigned it by the Federal Government which is ridding the nation of terrorists and other elements bent on causing destabilization of the polity.
Disclosing that the Army will remain professional in the conduct of its operation, Ihejirika said: “We will always keep strictly to the rules of engagement” adding “despite the level of propaganda of the Boko Haram terrorists in the plot to discredit the army, we will not be deterred in our resolve to address the current internal security challenges in partnership with other security agencies.
“In the incoming year, our focus is to ensure the mass production of locally manufactured  Armoured Personnel Carriers to meet our operational requirements. Equally, we hope to strengthen the capacity of the Nigerian Army Engineers through acquisition of necessary equipment so that it can take up bigger challenges outside the Nigerian Army”.
Continuing, Ihejirika said: “The outgoing year has indeed been both eventful and challenging for the Nigerian army especially in the fight against terrorism and other criminal activities in the country. This is in addition to maintaining significant presence in troubled spots in the African region e.g.Liberia,Darfurand lately, Guinea Bissau .
“As we speak, elements of ‘Operation Sanity’, coveringKogiState, Damaturu and Mubi, have led to the recovery of 901 assorted weapons, 89, 142 rounds of assorted ammunition, 11 hand grenades, 150 bombs and 555 IEDS”.
General Ihejirika also announced that he and the IGP have agreed to take far reaching measures that will enhance the current efforts at addressing terrorism and other related internal security challenges”.
Similarly, the IGP has ordered water-tight security around all government and Police related facilities nationwide.
“The Police High Command uses this medium to appeal to Nigerians for calm while reassuring them of the Force preparedness to perform its constitutional and statutory responsibilities of providing adequate security for the State and the entire citizenry”, Mba said.
He added:  “The Force therefore, enjoins the public to continue to go about their lawful duty without fear or intimidation as adequate strategies have been put in place to guarantee the general security and safety of all Nigerians”.
Boko Haram member sends letter offering dialogue
A purported senior member of Islamist militant group Boko Haram has distributed a letter requesting talks with the government, a day after a double suicide bombing blamed on the sect killed at least 11 and wounded 30 in an army barracks.
The letter, according to Reuters was signed by Sheik Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez, a man known by security sources to be a sect member but considered to be a moderate.
If the letter is genuine, it would appear to mark a change of tact for the Islamists that fits ill with a spate of violent episodes, including the bombing of the military church on Sunday.
That bombing showed a degree of sophistication not seen from Boko Haram for months.
Nearly 3,000 people have died violent deaths related to the conflict since the sect launched its uprising in 2009, according to a count by Human Rights Watch.
Boko Haram has replaced militancy in the oil-rich Niger Delta over that time to become the biggest security threat to Africa’s top energy producer.
The letter was handed to the national head of the union of journalists, Aba Kakami, who has often received and distributed statements from the sect, usually claiming attacks against high profile targets or warning of them.

News: Boko Haram Have Committed Crimes Against Humanity Says ICC

The International Criminal Court’s prosecutor has a “reasonable basis” to believe Boko Haram Islamists have committed crimes against humanity in Nigeria, her office said Monday.
Nigerian authorities should prosecute acts of murder and persecution attributed to the radical group that have claimed more than 1,200 lives since mid-2009 or the ICC could step in, the prosecutor said in a report seen by AFP.
“There is a reasonable basis to believe that since July 2009, Boko Haram has committed the following acts constituting crimes against humanity,” namely murder and persecution, the report said.
The report also cited a “reasonable basis” to believe that Boko Haram has “launched a widespread and systematic attack that has resulted in the killings of more than 1,200 Christians and Muslims.”
The group is pursuing a policy of “imposing an exclusive Islamic system of government in northern Nigeria at the expense of Christians specifically,” the report said.
The prosecutor’s office noted that Nigerian security forces may also have carried out human rights violations in its operations against the group, but said it had no indication that this was part of a “state or organisational policy to attack the civilian population.”
The prosecutor’s office said it would assess whether Nigerian authorities “are conducting genuine proceedings in relation to those who appear to bear the greatest responsibility for such crimes”.
Under the ICC’s complementarity principle, the court can step in only if national authorities are unwilling or unable to prosecute the crimes in question.

Technology: Acura RLX Concept

Acura's RL finally gets a long-awaited makeover, having been overshadowed by the mid-range TL sedan. No, this isn't the RWD V-8 flagship you've been waiting for. Like its predecessor, it features a V-6 engine, which makes 310 horsepower. Its Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, however, differs from the last generation, and is similar to the system featured in the NSX concept. In spite of its hybrid and AWD tech, Acura promises the RLX will weigh "well under 4,000 pounds," hopefully making its driving dynamics more engaging than its derivative aesthetics. Acura's flagship is still conservatively styled, with a kinked C-pillar treatment similar to the ILX, the polarizing power plenum grill and a healthy front overhang courtesy of its FWD architecture.

News: Suicide Bomber Rammed A Bus Into A Church

A suicide bomber rammed a bus into a church at a military barracks in restive northern Nigeria on Sunday and another detonated his explosives-packed car minutes later, killing 11 people and wounding dozens more.
The first bomb attack struck minutes after Sunday mass in the town of Jaji, the latest such attack against Christians in the west African nation where the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram has waged a deadly campaign.
A military officer said the first explosion did not cause any casualties, but drew people who were leaving church to the area ahead of the second blast. Those killed included soldiers, but it was not clear how many, a military spokesman said.

News: Couple And Kid Killed In Kano By Gunmen

Two motorcycle-riding gunmen killed a Christian couple and their child as they were on their way to church on Sunday in Kano, police and residents said.
“Two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on the car, killing the woman and her child on the spot while her husband died later in hospital,” Kano State police spokesman Magaji Majia told AFP.
He said the couple’s other child escaped unhurt in the shooting in the Kwanar Masallachi neighbourhood on the outskirts of the city.
Residents said the victims were Christians on their way to church for the Sunday service.
On November 17, gunmen on a motorcycle shot dead a lawmaker at a meeting spot in the same area, prompting a dusk-to-dawn curfew to stem the wave of similar attacks.
Boko Haram carried its deadliest ever attack in Kano in January, killing at least 185 people, and has been blamed for scores of drive-by killings in the city.

News: Church Explosions At Jaji, 11 Killed And Many Injured

The Nigerian army said two blasts that hit a church in a military barracks in restive Kaduna on Sunday were suicide attacks.
The twin explosions that rocked the St. Andrew Military Protestant Church has lead to the death of 11 people and injuring 30 others, the army confirmed.
“There were twin suicide bombings today at St Andrew Military Protestant Church (in the town of Jaji),” army spokesman Brigadier General Bola Koleosho told AFP, saying the attacks were just 10 minutes apart.
One of the explosions ripped through the church in the barracks in restive Kaduna on Sunday, the army said, with reports that a number of people had been wounded and eleven worshipers killed.
“There were blasts today in a church inside the military barracks in Jaji (in Kaduna state). It happened after the church service,” a military spokesman in Kaduna, Colonel Sani Usman, told AFP.
A military officer who did not want to be named said the Protestant church was hit by two explosions.
“The first blast caused no casualties and curious worshippers gathered around the scene looking at the debris… and that was when the second blast happened,” he said.
“Many people were injured but I have not received reports of any deaths at the moment.”
Jaji lies some 30 kilometres (20 miles) from the state capital Kaduna city which has been hit in the past by deadly attacks blamed on the Islamist sect Boko Haram.
The group has often targeted churches in its bloody insurgency, as well as police and other symbols of the establishment in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country which is divided between a mainly Muslim north and a predominantly Christian south.
The state-run National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said “rescuers have been alerted to an explosion at a military formation in Kaduna state today and likely at a worship centre”
Although no group has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s church blast, the incident was similar to previous attacks blamed on the Islamist extremist group.
Last month, at least 10 people were killed and 145 wounded in a suicide church bombing and reprisal violence in Kaduna.
