Technology: Acura RLX Concept
Acura's RL finally gets a
long-awaited makeover, having been overshadowed by the mid-range TL
sedan. No, this isn't the RWD V-8 flagship you've been waiting for. Like
its predecessor, it features a V-6 engine, which makes 310 horsepower.
Its Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, however, differs from the last generation, and
is similar to the system featured in the NSX concept. In spite of its
hybrid and AWD tech, Acura promises the RLX will weigh "well under 4,000
pounds," hopefully making its driving dynamics more engaging than its
derivative aesthetics. Acura's flagship is still conservatively styled,
with a kinked C-pillar treatment similar to the ILX, the polarizing
power plenum grill and a healthy front overhang courtesy of its FWD
architecture.
